Idea Development

Often potential clients need enlightened into the process of how we transform an idea into a concept. Almost every project without exception will need to have been designed and developed before protecting or approaching industry. Design work can add value and credibility to your project, and make your presentation more professional. You cannot skip the product design and development stage!
Without a design for your product your project is just an idea and you cannot protect or market ideas. The design process will provide you with the relevant professional presentation material with which to present your idea to industry. Companies will expect a certain level of product idea development to have been completed before even considering your idea – this is particularly the case if you are looking to license.
If you are looking to manufacture, then you will need the product designed using Computer Aided Design (CAD) to allow that CAD data to then be used for prototyping.
Below I will highlight the main areas of process to help you:
Meeting
Once you have your idea you will arrange a meeting. At the meeting we will fill in a mutual confidentiality agreement then tell us about your project and hear how we can help you.
Ideas
Research and idea generation stage looking at technology, materials, mechanisms, etc. (if required).
Concepts
Range of design options with differing version of aesthetics to help define the direction.
Presentation
Meeting to present concepts and select the design route forward.
(Patent application if required)
Development
With a concept selected and a route defined the product is ready for a prototype to produced.
Prototype
Rapid prototyping or other appropriate process to enable testing before manufacture.
Manufacture Deign
Alterations to suit the chosen production process and final adjustments.
The above is a guide to how our product design process can take your idea from a seed to a fully formed and developed product ready to hit the market. All designs are different and not all will follow this exact path. Some may skip steps whilst others require multiple iterations to reach the desired outcome and best meet the needs of the end user.
