If there is a facility on-site, find out where it is and how much it costs to use. Seeing the laundry room when you first visit to the apartments is a good idea. If there is no laundry facility located in the building, ask the landlord where the nearest laundromat is in proximity to the complex. You do not want to have to carry your items too far to get them cleaned. If you have a car this is not as much of a concern as it is if you will be on foot.
Amenities such as security, a gymnasium and a pool are all things that everyone wants but not every building provides them. You need to ask what amenities are available to tenants. When checking out various apartments throughout the city, decide which amenities are most important to you and don’t waste your time with places that do not have what you need. You want safety and comfort in the unit you choose as your residence.
If you are interested in having cable TV, you are going to want to know in which rooms the hook-up can be found. It would also be wise to find out who the provider is for the service.
If you have a cat or dog, viewing apartments that allow pets will be one of your major considerations. Find out if you are permitted to have pets, and if yes, what kinds of pets? Is there a size or weight restriction? There are some pet-friendly buildings that will only allow cats. There are others that will allow cats and dogs but only smaller dogs. As well, some places charge a pet deposit for tenants who move in with their pets. Find out if the fee is a one-time fee or if it is charged on a monthly basis. You also should ask if the fee is refundable when you move out or not.
