Markham and Its Change Into a Diverse City

Toronto is diverse, we have all known that for years, but if you really want to show a booming diversity that is taking place in Canada, take then down to Markham. This north eastern suburb really is the place to witness boom and retail diversity, as well as some great deals on real estate property!

There are no fewer than 3,400 Arabs, 9,700 blacks, 6,200 West Asians, 2,800 South East Asians and 3,200 Koreans.
The total population of Markham has no less than 300,200 people but even the white population are made up of Poles, Russians, Romanians, Greeks, Italians, and Iranians. There are black people from Jamaica, Guyana, and as many as 15,000 from Sri Lanka. There are even some people who live here from places in South and Central America including Colombians, and Brazilians and even Europeans from places like Moldova and the British island of Isle of Man!
There are also around 24,000 people that live here that happen to be a minority, despite being within the borders of their own country, and yes, I’m talking about Canadians! But boy has this suburb grown somewhat! Back in 1976 the population was only around 50,000, now some 30 years on it can boast a populace some six times bigger than that. In fact, in the last seven years the population here has actually grown by as much as 15 per cent.
