Leadership And Management Differences

The terms leadership and management are often used as if they were one and the same, but there is a vast difference between a leader and a manager. Leaders are sometimes managers but most managers are not leaders. It is an exceptional person that embodies both of these traits. They have very different abilities, both essential to success at a high-growth business.
Leaders have a distinctive ability to unite employees around a vision. Because their belief in the vision is so keen, employees will logically want to follow them. Leaders also tend to be willing to take risks in effort to fulfill the vision. Managers, on the other hand, are more proficient at executing the vision in a very systematic way and guiding employees on how to do so. They can see all of the intricate aspects and understand how to make them work together. Managers are usually preferred to avoid unnecessary risk.
Many entrepreneurs are leaders and not managers. On the other hand, if a manager is expected to lead a company, that company will not be as successful. Some managers can motivate and some leaders can systemically implement, but these are not their primary strengths. Understanding if you are a leader or manager will help make important early choices that match your strengths and ensure the success of your business.
The purpose of this book is to introduce a new leadership style known as Intellectual Authentic Transformational Leadership. Intellectual Authentic Transformational Leadership is a combination of the two best leadership styles: Authentic and transformational. This leadership style is a combination of the best values of the two leadership styles shown above. In addition, emotional intelligence, the intellectual part of this leadership style is included to improve the overall leadership style. The values determined to be the ones for this leadership style are will be discussed later in this book. First I want to present information on the various types of leadership so the reader will have a complete understanding.
Leadership Is Performance, Not Position
Leaders are those who are accountable for making pronouncements and bringing change. Leaders are those who authorize people to ascertain their greatest potential and inspire them to reach that potential. People are the ones to choose their leader based on performance, point of view and actions. If you want to be a leader, then proceed like a leader and influence a better reality.
The Best Way to Influence Is by Setting an Example
Every leader desires to have their team perform their best. Providing excellent orientation is the best place to start, yet there is always need for improvement. The best teaching method is to have your team learn by example. Your actions should mirror what you are teaching others. During hard times, when chances to give up are great, you should be the one who faces barriers with self-assurance and the willpower to bring success. Be sure, that your team will do the same and support you.
Leading Means Making an Impact
Some of the greatest leaders in history all had an influence on their team. Leadership is not just establishing goals and successfully achieving them with your team. Leadership is not just dazzling public speaking and illustrious communication skills. If you want to be an authentic leader, you should have your matchless contribution to the interests of the society.
Leadership is Pursuing Vision
Without a vision, your actions are pointless. Each person can be very busy executing various tasks, but the key is allocating your efforts and time to the apprehension of your vision. Vision is what motivates people to take action and proceed. You should determine your exclusive vision and harmonize all your activities towards it. Encourage each and every member of your team with that vision.
What People See Concerns Them
What people see concerns them many times more than what they hear. Do not squander your and other people’s time on infinite conversations about your plans. Realize what your plans are and be sure that everyone will envision your plans in the same way.
