Employees Plans Seeming Like Drug Trips

In any change initiative – from battling sexism in your workforce to revitalising innovation – your employees are your allies.
Hardly newsworthy, I know.
But it’s a timely reminder.
Some leaders I’ve had the pleasure of working with or under forget this.
They have this beautiful, shining vision of what the organisation could be.
They share this with their eager, enthusiastic followers.
Then…
They get mad when the employees don’t fall into line.
As if the employees are the enemy.
They’re not. I’ll say it again: they’re your allies.
But unless they are so dedicated to the cause they’d work for you for free, remember this:
These allies choose to follow you – and can just as easily choose another leader.
And they’re allies whose loyalty you bought.
That means it takes more than barking orders and hoping for the best.
