1. Salon spray tans come in an automated spray booth or in airbrush applied by a technician. The booth is great for experienced tanners familiar with spray tan practices while the first timer could end up with an uneven tan. The airbrush tan on the other hand comes with a technician who knows what, where and how the spray creates the best result and has the added advantage of being able to enhance features like abs.
2. To find out what the best possible shade for you is, you should ask for a test spray. It is better to be sure than to be sorry.
3. Prepare your skin for your spray tan by shaving or waxing 48 hours and exfoliating 24 hours before your session. Don’t moisturize any part of your body apart from the ankles, knees and elbows. Also don’t wear deodorant or perfume as they may cause discolorations.
4. Once you’ve had your tan applied, avoid spending a long time in water and stay away from the swimming pool. When drying the skin pat it and use a light moisturizer to maintain the color. Exfoliate the skin after 4 to 5 days to make the tan fade naturally.
5. A spray tan will last for 5 to 10 days. This is the lifecycle of your skin cells.
