Conclusion and Abstract
Follow the directions below for the completion of the conclusion and abstract assignment for Unit VIII. If you have questions, please email your professor for assistance.
Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to complete your academic argumentative research paper.
Description: In this assignment, you will first write your conclusion; then, you will write your abstract. The following components are requirements of the assignment:
Conclusion (150-200 words):
o Revisit the controversy.
o Emphasize the seriousness of the controversy.
o Answer the “So what?” questio.
o Suggest a general solution (optional).
o Call for awareness/action. o Leave the reader with a final thought. 
 
Abstract (200 words or less): For this assignment, you may not exceed 200 words.
 
o Restatement of the controversy (one to two sentences)
o Your thesis (one sentence) o Reasons (three to four sentences)
o Conclusion sentence (one sentence)  Add the conclusion and abstract to the rest of your paper so that you are turning in a complete research paper. The paper should include all of the following components (in order):
o Title page
o Abstract
o Introduction
o Literature review
o Body paragraphs
o Conclusion
o References page

Congratulations on moving ahead with your project.
The content of this portion should adhere to the requirement of a minimum of 3 or 4 developed paragraphs in which you state your ideas. Remember that this is the minimum, so more development is needed in this major portion of the paper.  In this particular section, the purpose is to defend your thesis; for this reason you do not mention the con side of your argument, as was done in the review of literature.   Also, your added in text citations are to add some source support for your ideas.
The organization includes all portions of the paper.
The writing demonstrates an acceptable  use of standard written English.
The reference page is included and in text citations are included.  There are minor uncorrected errors in APA.  Please consult The CSU Citation Guide and/or  http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl.
