Energy sources
Singapore has not been blessed with energy resources and has had to import all of its energy requirements.

Currently, the city-state imports all its crude oil (61.8%) and natural gas liquids (32.2%) from overseas.
Consumption figures indicate that industries use 79.9% of the imported fuel, commerce and services 8.7%, households 6.9% and transport, a mere 1.6%.
Heating and Cooling systems
The prevailing hot and humid climate of Singapore necessitates heating and cooling appliances installed in homes, buildings and offices. Days are hot and so are the nights with troublesome mosquitoes to contend with.
Modern homes in Singapore come with cooling units, typically wall mounted and operated by remote control.
Modern office and retail spaces also come with built-in cooling systems, typically operated and regulated by the building management.
Heating appliances
Rain falls practically every day, necessitating the use of dryers by numerous unit occupiers and householders to dry clothes.
Washing machines capable of heating up water for washing are also found in many homes, but more so in the condominiums or other tourist accommodation.
Standard stoves and ovens are used for cooking and boiling while fast cooking microwave ovens are also available for private, tourist and office use.
Hot water heaters are readily available to cater for the needs of local residents as well as visitors who normally occupy condominiums.
Other home appliances
An array of other home appliances having lower energy consuming levels are also found, especially in homes and tourist accommodation.
Only a select few include dishwashers for their kitchen.

A comfortable and well-to-do population is a jealous guardian of its belongings and real estate. Lighting itself is a deterrent but in Singapore, more effective burglar alarms for offices, banks and museums have been installed; security lights are secured to the outside of homes and buildings; voice alerting systems are installed to condo doors and more efficient exit and entry cards are provided for guests.

Sanitation is perhaps the most important structural system for a population and this is true for Singapore.

High-standard homes, condominiums and offices require high plumbing standards and Singapore’s plumbing service is one of the best.
One has only to power on the TV, laptop or computer to view the names of some of the professional plumbing companies, such as Kino sewage, Singapore Plumbing Society and more! Each company touts the “fast, reliable and efficient” motto, offering maintenance services from the toilet flushing system and shower to the high-pressure water jetting system.
Water
Adequate water runs into structures through the plumbing system providing sufficient, safe and clean tap water. An equally sufficient supply runs through the system out of structures carrying waste to disposable sites.
Water from the tap is safe to drink in Singapore.
