Art Appreciation Project Outline: Traditional Greek sculptures
Over the ages, Greek sculptures have been preserved. It ensures that the history of the Greeks is preserved and carried forward to the next generation. Moreover, the sculptures are presently used for artistic purposes, which informs the contemporary designs and how people develop their arts. Most of the arts were awkward from the impression they created, and the poses they were developed to become were stiff. The arts were developed and contained many traditional characteristics of Greek art. The sculptures were primarily male in their creation, nude statues, anonymous, well-muscled, and blank-faced. In the 6th century, the realism of the sculptures was vastly improved with the advancement of people’s artistic abilities. Therefore, this research aims to critically evaluate the advancement of the artistic work regarding Greek sculptures.
The research will focus on the styles in which the Greek sculptures were developed. The knowledge will supply the knowledge of how the artistic work influenced the present techniques of how the Greeks develop their arts and manage their ancient work to ensure they remain relevant to the present audience. Therefore, studying the arts such as Hermes of Praxiteles Archaeological Museum of Olympia, Greece, the Colonna Venus – Aphrodite of Knidos, and the Motya Charioteer will offer enlightenment the characteristics of the arts and their influence in the present world.
The ancient Greeks are made up of legendary stories for many reasons. The people preserved their history and knowledge through mythology, their esteemed philosophers, the twelve glorious gods, and the pride they derived from their brave warriors. However, the beauty of the ancient Greeks was conceptualized by constructing impressive and attractive architectural wonders that the world still beholds. The beauty was honored and represented by life-like statues, spectacular sculptures. Today they are artistic work preserving the history of the people.
